Terms
Terms of service
Katafacts (katafacts.com) is operated by Glen Hamilton. Plain language, no filler. Effective August 20, 2026.
Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Katafacts (katafacts.com), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the site. We may update these terms from time to time — see "Changes to these terms" below.
What Katafacts is
Katafacts provides free, open-licensed continuous-improvement katas (guides and templates), an account-based tool for generating customized artifacts with AI assistance, and related coaching features. Kata guides and their worked examples are free to read and download without an account. Coaching, generating and saving artifacts, downloading skill files, and downloading resources all require a free account and are subject to usage limits.
Content license
Every kata and companion guide on this site is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) — you're free to use, copy, and adapt them, with attribution, under that license's terms.
This license covers the katas and their guide content specifically. It does not cover the Katafacts name, logo, site design, or the underlying software and application — those remain the property of Katafacts and are not licensed for reuse under CC BY 4.0.
Your account and generated content
If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
Artifacts you generate through your account are yours — you own the content you create, subject to the license terms of the kata it's based on. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or misuse the service.
Katafacts is currently free to use during a beta period with no fixed end date. We may introduce paid plans, usage limits, or other changes in the future — if we do, we'll update these terms and give notice. During beta, we may contact you occasionally for product feedback, a short survey, or updates about your account.
Acceptable use
Don't use Katafacts to violate the law, infringe anyone's rights, attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the site or its infrastructure, or scrape or bulk-download content in a way that circumvents the rate limits and access controls we've put in place.
Reasonable, good-faith automated use — including AI agents reading kata guides or skill files as intended — is fine; abusive load or attempts to bypass quotas are not.
AI-generated content
Artifacts, coaching responses, and other output generated with AI assistance are drafts, not verified facts. AI can make mistakes, misunderstand context, or produce plausible-sounding but incorrect content.
Every generated artifact is presented as an editable draft specifically so you can review, correct, and take ownership of it before you rely on it — that review is your responsibility, not ours.
No professional advice
Nothing on Katafacts — kata guides, generated artifacts, coaching output, or anything else — constitutes professional, business, financial, legal, or consulting advice. Continuous-improvement methods can help you think through a problem, but the judgement, decisions, and outcomes are yours. Use Katafacts as a tool to support your own thinking, not a substitute for it.
Disclaimer of warranties
Katafacts and all content on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We don't warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any content — including AI-generated content — is accurate, complete, or reliable.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Katafacts and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, arising from or related to your use of the site, its content, or any generated artifact — including any business decision made based on them — regardless of the legal theory under which it's claimed, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the site is limited to the greater of (a) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), or (b) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Katafacts and its operator harmless from any claim, loss, or damage — including reasonable legal fees — arising from your use of the site, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any right of a third party.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Katafacts at any time, with or without cause, including for violating these terms. You can stop using the site or delete your account at any time — see our Privacy policy for how to request account deletion.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. If a change is material, we'll update the effective date below. Continuing to use Katafacts after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Katafacts will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Washington State, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
